Brakeman Pro Desktop is available as a self-installing executable for Windows and OS X and a JAR file for Linux.
Windows
To install Brakeman Pro on Windows, download the Brakeman Pro .exe file from the link we emailed to you.
Once downloaded, double-click on the .exe file. An installation wizard should begin. Click through the prompts to install.
Brakeman Pro will automatically start once the install is complete.
To update Brakeman Pro, download the latest version and repeat the process above.
OS X
To install on OS X, download the Brakeman Pro .dmg file from the link in your email.
Once downloaded, double click the .dmg file. A window will appear with the Brakeman Pro logo and the Applications folder. Drag the Brakeman Pro logo to the Applications folder.
Double-click on the Applications folder to open the list of Applications.
Double-click on Brakeman Pro to start the application.
To update Brakeman Pro, download the latest version and repeat the process above to replace the application. All previous scans and settings will be saved.
Linux/Other
Brakeman Pro Desktop JAR requires Oracle Java 8 update 40 or later.
Download the Brakeman Pro .jar file from the link in your email.
Depending on your platform, you may be able to double-click the file to launch it.
Otherwise, open a console and run java -jar BrakemanPro.jar to run Brakeman Pro. Since Java requires explicitly setting a memory limit, we recommend allocating at least 4GB: java -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -jar BrakemanPro.jar
